Reminder to Return Library Books

At this time of year we ask that students and parents search around the home for school text books, reading books, library books and other school owned items. These resources can be expensive to replace.

We ask that if any items are found around the home they be returned to the school as soon as possible. Students will be required to reimburse the cost of any books not returned.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Arts for Change Evening June 14

We would like to remind our families of the upcoming Arts for Change performance evening at JVPS on Thursday, June 14 starting at 6:00 p.m.

At Johnsview Village P.S. we are dedicated to encouraging our students to become global citizens and to recognize the power they have to impact the lives of others, both locally and around the word.

In our classes, we have been exploring a variety of social justice issues including:
·       embracing diversity,
·       standing up against bullying
·       and addressing youth poverty.

Some of our classes have volunteered to share the work they have created in the performing arts on the theme of social justice.  These performances include songs, plays and dramatic productions.

The students who are performing are asked to be at school by 5:45 p.m. and will gather in the following locations:

Ms. Noxon’s  Grade 7/8:    Room 223
Ms. Fisher’s Grade 6/7:      Room 223
Mr. Phillip’s Grade 3/4:      Room 222
Mrs. Wong’s Grade 2/3:     Room 220
Mrs. Khokhar’s Grade 1/2: Room     3
Mrs. Levick’s K1/2B:         Room     4
Mrs. Manganaro’s K1/2A:  Room     2

Once the students are finished their part in the performance they will be returning to their classrooms as listed above.  Parents are asked to pick up their children from their classrooms at the end of the evening.  Please note that all the students who are performing will not be in the audience during the performance.

We are also respectfully asking all parents to remain in the gymnasium for the duration of the performance. We are asking parents to limit going in and out of the gym during the performance so that everyone can enjoy the performances by the students.

The doors of the school will be open at 5:15 p.m. so that parents and children can have an opportunity to buy snacks (all snacks are $2) and a raffle ticket for VIP seating during the performance.  The raffle ticket winner will be announced shortly before the performance is to begin. Snacks will NOT be sold during the performance, as we would like all parents and children to remain in the gymnasium during the various performances.

Please join us this Thursday, as the students at Johnsview Village P.S. strive to make a difference in the world.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
