School Musical Wednesday May 30 2018

Don't forget to buy your raffle ticket for our VIP seating. One family will win:

Tickets will be on sale at school tomorrow and before the musical begins.

the winning family will be announced just before the musical begins.

We will also be offering henna designs before the musical.

2 dollars for a small design

5 dollars for a whole hand design

Henna will be on offer in the Learning Commons.

Snacks will also be sold for 2 dollars. Pizza will be sold for $2.50 per slice.

Polling Station at JVPS

We wouldd like to share with our community that our school will serve as a polling station for the upcoming Provincial Election on Thursday, June 7th, 2018.

We are pleased to host members of our community who will come to vote at our school. It provides a great opportunity to discuss the democratic process with students. We would encourage you to talk to your children about the important role voting plays in our democratic society.

As we will have community members attending our school to vote, you may see increased traffic around the school, as well as reduced parking in the area. We will be doing everything possible to minimize disruptions. Voting will take place in our school gymnasium.

VIP Seating for Moana the Musical

We will be selling raffle tickets every day at school at lunch recess for a family to win our VIP seating for the school musical. Tickets will also be sold the night of the musical just before the performance.

Tickets are:
1 ticket for two dollars
3 tickets for five dollars

The draw will take place the night of the musical.

We look forward to seeing our families at the musical.

Introducing Online Absence Reporting

Parents/guardians can now report student absences online.

Regular and punctual attendance affects school success and is expected of all students. It is important that students, families and school staff work together to ensure regular attendance.

Parents are expected to notify the school as soon as possible if their child will be absent or late.

Reporting an absence online is now available through Edsby. If you have activated your Edsby account, you can login to Edsby and report your child’s absence online. You can access an online video tutorial to learn more (bit.ly/edsbyabsence) about how to do this.

Families can still continue to report absences by phone.

Happy Victoria Day

We would like to wish all of our JVPS families a great long weekend and to remind everyone that there is no school on Monday May 21 and school resumes on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Please ensure that your children arrive on time on Tuesday and that parents are not dropping off children or parking directly in the cross walk in front of the school or in the bus loop.

Students can be dropped off at 8:45 a.m. as there is supervision starting at 8:45 a.m.

EQAO will be starting as well on Tuesday for students in grades 3 and 6. Please ensure your children are on time for school.

If you know your child is going to be absent or late, it is very important that a parent calls the school to notify the office of the absence or the late arrival.

VIP Seating for Moana the Musical

This year we will be offering special reserved VIP seating for a family at JVPS.

Parents can purchase one raffle ticket for $2 or three tickets for $5.

Students can purchase raffle tickets in the school office starting Tuesday May 22, 2018 and tickets will also be available for purchase the night of the musical.

We will announce the winner just before the musical and escort the winner to the VIP seating area.

The winning family will receive VIP seating, popcorn and drinks.

Jump Rope for Heart Event at JVPS

Our Jump Rope for Heart event will take place tomorrow, Friday May 18 at 9:15 in the morning.

Please ensure your children come to school prepared for the event:

with appropriate footwear (a solid running shoe, not a sandal or flip flop)
a full water bottle
sunscreen applied at home
a hat
comfortable clothing to wear
wear something red to show support for a healthy heart
