Arts for Change Evening at JVPS

Please join us Thursday, June 14 for an inspirational evening of performances with a social justice theme by students at JVPS.

The performances will start right at 6:00 p.m.  in the school gymnasium.

Making a Difference through the Arts

At JVPS we are dedicated to encouraging our students to become global citizens and to recognize the power they have to impact the lives of others, both locally and around the world. In our classes, we have been exploring a variety of social justice issues such as:

  • Embracing Diversity
  • Standing up Against Bullying
  • Addressing Youth Poverty

Some of our classes have volunteered to share the work they have created in the performing arts on the the theme of social justice. These performances include songs, plays, dances and dramatic productions.

We will also be selling raffle tickets for a family to win VIP seating for this evening.  Tickets will be sold next week at morning recess and just before the performance on June 14.  As well, we will be selling snacks for two dollars.

We look forward to welcoming our parent community to this meaningful evening.

Please join us as we strive to make a difference.

June 28, 2018 - Early Release Day

Dear Parents/Guardians:

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Thursday, June 28, 2018 an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 28, 2018 only.

Students will be dismissed early that day at 12:00 noon.

Parents are asked to make the appropriate arrangements to pick up their children at 12:00 noon on Thursday June 28, 2018.

Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
