JVPS Using Edsby

York Region District School Board has partnered with Edsby to provide a secure platform for families to connect with what’s happening at school and with your child’s education.  

Edsby offers many different features that YRDSB will be rolling out over the next several years.  Some of the features that the office and classroom teachers are using include: 

● Absence reporting

 ● A news river with school events and information

 ● Appointment bookings for Parent-Teacher Interviews/Student-Led Conferences

 ● Postings about learning in classrooms. 

Our school will communicate more information as features become available.  

Please continue to check the Edsby platform for information about the school and your child’s classroom.  Please remember that the Johnsview Village Blog will be moving to Edsby as of March 8, 2019.  In order to more quickly access information on Edsby, please ensure your account is activated and that you have downloaded the Edsby App.

Moving to Edsby Platform

JVPS will be moving to Edsby for the delivery of school news.  As of March 8, we will no longer be communicating through the blog.

If you have not signed up for Edsby or activated your Edsby account please do so as soon as possible. If you need more information please contact the school office.

It is a good idea to download the Edsby App as well so that you can receive notifications on your mobile device.

Edsby Tutorial

School council is offering a hands-on session for parents to learn more about how to use the Edsby tool.  

The session will take place just before our School Council meeting this Thursday, November 1, 2018.

The Edsby session will start at 6:15 p.m.

We will cover: 

• logging on,
• reporting an absence,
• booking a parent/teacher interview
• using the translation tool
• communicating with teachers and making the most out of this communication tool   

Please bring a charged device and the EDSBY app downloaded. If you do not have an account, please contact the office. This will be a hands on session. 

Please contact the office to indicate interest.  Babysitting will be provided.

         

Parent Teacher Interview Schedule on Edsby for Parents of Senior Kindergarten Students (Year 2) to Grade 8 Students Only

Parent - Teacher Interviews will be held on Thursday November 22, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday November 23, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to twelve o’clock noon.

Johnsview Village P.S.  is pleased to announce that we will be using an online process through Edsby to manage our Parent Teacher Interviews scheduling.

Edsby is an intuitive, cloud-based platform that will allow families to easily reserve times to meet with their child’s teachers. YRDSB in partnership with Edsby have created a secure platform that protects the privacy of information for our YRDSB families.

Families will need to create an Edsby account to access the online appointment scheduler for their child’s teachers. 

Only families who create an Edsby account prior to the schedule being opened on Monday November 12, 2018, will have access. For help signing up for Parent-Teacher interviews, please visit http://bit.ly/ptifamily.

Nov 12	Parent - Teacher Interviews schedule opens for booking, an invitation to book appointments will be sent to your Edsby inbox with a notification to your email.
Nov 21	Progress Report Cards sent home
Nov 22 & 23 Nov 23	Parent-Teacher Interviews Interview/Conference Schedule Closes at the end of the day

JVPS will continue to send out invitations for parents to sign up for Edsby.

Please ensure that the office has your correct e-mail address.

Through Edsby, parents can submit student attendance.

This year we will be asking parents to sign up for Parent-Teacher interviews through Edsby.  More information will be coming out soon on how to book your parent - teacher interview through Edsby.

Introducing Online Absence Reporting

Parents/guardians can now report student absences online.

Regular and punctual attendance affects school success and is expected of all students. It is important that students, families and school staff work together to ensure regular attendance. 

Parents are expected to notify the school as soon as possible if their child will be absent or late.  

Reporting an absence online is now available through Edsby.  If you have activated your Edsby account, you can login to Edsby and report your child’s absence online. You can access an online video tutorial to learn more (bit.ly/edsbyabsence) about how to do this.

Families can still continue to report absences by phone.
