Morning Drop Off Routines

Dear Parents of Students in Full Day Kindergarten and Grades 1 to 3:

This note is a reminder to all parents of FDK and primary students (Grades 1 to 3) to please drop off your children outside the kindergarten gate.   We are requesting that parents of all children not enter the kindergarten enclosed yard.  This will help the staff in the following ways:

  •    Ensure that all children are accounted for as it is difficult to see the children with all the adults in the kindergarten yard
  •       Help improve separation between parents and children
  •        Reduce congestion at the entry gate to the kindergarten yard

Starting from the first day of school, Tuesday September 4, 2018, parents are asked to drop their children off at the kindergarten gate at 8:45 a.m. when supervision begins

Please note that there is supervision in the FDK yard, the primary yard and the intermediate yard at 8:45 a.m

Thank you for your cooperation.

On the first day of school, there will be supervision in the yard starting at 8:45 a.m.  At this time parents can come with their children and follow the procedures outlined below:

·      All kindergarten children will meet outside in the kindergarten yard.  The children will be guided into their classrooms right away through the kindergarten door. We kindly remind all parents to say their goodbyes outside the Kindergarten Gate, to foster independence in their children. The first day for Year One /JK students only will be a half day from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m.

·     We are reminding parents of year one (JK) students in Kindergarten to meet in the Learning Commons at 11:10 a.m to learn about School Council before picking up their children at 11:30 a.m.

·     -Students who will be in grades 1 - 8 will be met by teachers in the school yard at the back of the school and will be directed where to line up.

·      Students in grades 1 to 3 will gather in the Primary Yard.

·      Students in Grades 4 to 8 will gather in the Junior/Intermediate yard.

·      Parents will notice that there will be signs placed on chairs to indicate where each grade level is to line up before entry.

·      All parents are reminded NOT to walk through the kindergarten yard to access the Primary yard.  Only students can be in the kindergarten yard.

Please do not drop your children off before 8:45 a.m. All children are expected to walk around the school using the sidewalk and the path to enter the school
yard where supervision at 8:45 a.m. is provided.  The school parking lot is off limits to students and we respectfully ask that parents do not park or stop or enter the school parking lot.

In case of rain, students in grades 1 - 8 will enter the front foyer and go directly to the gym.  All kindergarten students will enter through the kindergarten doors right away in case of rain.

For pick up at the end of the day at 3:30 p.m. students will be dismissed from their dismissal doors into the school yard. The dismissal doors are as follows:

Kindergarten: Kindergarten Door
Grade1 -3:      Primary Door
Grade 4-8:      Intermediate Door

We respectfully remind all parents to wait OUTSIDE the dismissal doors to pick up their children.  Please remember that all doors to the school are locked at all times. Kindergarten students will be dismissed directly to parents from the kindergarten classroom doors at the end of the day.

Please do not call the office or e-mail regarding class placement or to request who your child’s teacher will be for this school year. We are still in the process of registering students and class lists are still being finalized. Students and parents will find out who the teacher is and class placement on the first day of school.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
