BBQ and Curriculum Night Thursday, Sept 29

We are looking forward to seeing all of our families at the BBQ and the Curriculum evening.

Just a few reminders....

The BBQ will take place from 5:30 to 6:30.

Parents can order food for themselves and their children on our School Cash On Line system.  The BBQ will be held at the back of the school on the junior/intermediate tarmac.  Once parents and students obtain their food, families can proceed into the school to eat either in:

  • the learning commons or
  • the gym

The curriculum part of the evening will start at 6:30  Each teacher will provide two identical presentations so that parents with more than one child at the school can meet each teacher and see their child's classroom.

  • The first presentation will be from 6:30 to 6:55
  • The second presentation will be from 7:00 to 7:25

Here is a chart of our classrooms and their location:

Morning Drop Off

Dear Parents of Grade 1 to 3 and students:

This note is a request to all parents of primary  students (Grades 1 to 3) to please drop off your students at the kindergarten gate.   We are requesting that parents of primary students not enter the kindergarten enclosed yard.  This will help the staff in the following ways:

·       Ensure that all children are accounted for as it is difficult to see the children with all the adults in the kindergarten yard
·      Help improve separation between parents and children
·       Reduce congestion at the entry gate to the kindergarten yard

Starting tomorrow morning, Tuesday September 13, 2016, parents are asked to drop their children off at the kindergarten gate at 8:45 a.m. when supervision begins.  Parents of students in kindergarten are already dropping off their children at the gate and not entering the kindergarten yard.

Please note that there is supervision in the primary yard at 8:45 a.m

Thank you for your cooperation.

Attendance and Punctuality

At JVPS we emphasize the importance of arriving to school on time.

Please note that school begins PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m.

Supervision in the school yard begins at 8:45 a.m.

Getting to school on time - every day- is very important.

Learning occurs daily, right from the start of class.  By establishing patterns early on (i.e. being punctual and responsible) children acquire positive habits about school attendance.

If your child is going to be absent or late parents MUST call the school office to inform us at: 905-881-3360

Welcome Back JVPS Families

We are looking forward to welcoming back all of our students on Tuesday September 6, 2016.

The school looks great.  Our two caretakers, Mrs. Hastings and Mrs. Hoile, have worked diligently over the summer months  and our teachers have been in to set up their classrooms so that our school is all ready to welcome our students.

Supervision starts at 8:45 a.m and we look forward to greeting our students in the playground.

Just a final reminder for parents of Junior Kindergarten students ONLY that the first day of school (September 6th only) is a half day.  We are asking you to pick up your children at 11:30 a.m. from the kindergarten rooms.

We are also inviting parents of Junior Kindergarten students to come a bit earlier at 11:15 a.m  to meet with Oksana Majeski, our Community Resource Facilitator in the library to learn more about joining School Council for the upcoming school year.

Have a great long weekend.
